Located at the foothills of the White Tank Mountains is one of Phoenix's newest communities: Verrado.  Opened in January 2004, Phase I consists of 1,145 acres, 2,040 residences and 20 neighborhood parks. Also included in phase I is a 7,300 yard, 18-hole championship golf course, the Raven Golf Club. Phase I will be completed with the opening of the elementary and middle school in the fall of 2004. Aside from the schools, golf, and parks, amenities at Verrado include the Village Sport and Health Club which offers a pool, a lap pool, a kid's area, basketball courts, fitness rooms, and optional fitness classes. Main Street offers the small town feel while offering plenty of room for businesses. There are also over 20 miles of trails and paths to explore. Once complete, Verrado will offer 14,000 homes, 325 proposed acres of parks, and 4 million square feet of commercial space.
